Background Information
Although I really enjoy makeup and I watch so many beauty gurus on YouTube and I watch so many tutorials I actually do not wear a lot of makeup. When I do wear makeup I still like to keep it pretty natural looking and I like to have my freckles showing through. However, I do want my skin to look even and to hide any blemishes I may have. Also, I am pretty into skincare and so I always like to make sure that what I am putting on my face is not going to harm it. Your skin is your biggest organ so it is important to treat it well and make sure that the products you are using have good ingredients in them, especially when it comes to makeup.
I've liked bareMinerals for a long time and I like them even more after they came out with this new Blemish Rescue line! The foundation is formulated with 0.5% salicylic acid to help combat acne (anyone who has struggled with breakouts, myself included will be all too familiar with this ingredient lol) and though this acid can be drying bareMinerals took that into consideration and decided to include a moisture mineral complex in order to help keep your skin hydrated!
I have used this foundation multiple times and I really do like it. Although I am no longer a teenage I still unfortunately have some acne to deal with which means that I am always look for products that can help with that issue. I am glad that this foundation has ingredients that will not cause more breakouts and will actually help combat current breakouts. I believe that it did help to clear my skin a bit but I know that using it longer would lead to better results. I like that you can decide how much coverage you want as I tend to prefer more light weight while also covering what I want to cover. I did use a concealer underneath the Bareminerals Blemish Rescue Skin Clearing Loose Powder foundation after applying the primer as it is a loose powder foundation.
And speaking of the primer, the mattifying primer is soothing, moisturizing, and has green mineral pigments to help reduce redness as red and green are opposite colors (and we all know about the color correcting craze lol). This primer goes on nicely and is almost lotion like, it is not heavy and I felt that it did really help to prep my skin for the foundation. Because it is a loose powder foundation and meant to be buffed into the skin you really want to make sure that you have a nice canvas to start with and that your skin is not dry. The Bareminerals Blemish Rescue Anti- Redness Mattifying_primer helps to ensure that your skin will be be smooth.
The final product in the line that I utilized was the antibacterial charcoal buffing brush. This brush is super soft and very good quality. I usually use a liquid foundation and a beauty blender so it was the first time I was trying a buffing brush. I definitely needed to practice a bit before I felt like I got the hang of applying my foundation this way. That is just due to my own lack of skills haha 🙈. The brush is a decent size and felt nice on my face. I was able to get a decent amount of product on the brush at once but had to dip a couple times to get the coverage I wanted. It took a bit of time and effort to work it into my skin but that it what buffing is all about. I did make a mistake the first time I tried using this and I moisturized too long before applying the foundation and this brush emphasized my dry skin, but again that is not the fault of the Bareminerals seeamless buffing brush, that was due to my inadequate knowledge of the technique.
Overall
I appreciate that bareMinerals makes products that are actually good for your skin and that the products do what they are meant to do. I recommend all 3 of these products from the Blemish Rescue line so if you are looking for a new powder foundation or a primer I think theses are worth a try, especially if you have breakouts. I also like the fact that bareMinerals is cruelty free and so it does not test on animals!
