Bare Minerals Blemish Rescue Review

Hi everyone! It's finally fall and I am so happy about that! Today's post is a review of the bareMinerals Blemish Rescue line! The line includes a loose powder foundation, a  mattifying primer, and a buffing brush. All of these products are aimed to help clear your skin so this is a great option for people who have breakouts and want to prevent future outbreaks, especially us young adults and college students. I wanted to do this bareMinerals Blemish Rescue review because I am someone who always looks at reviews before buying products and since I got the chance to try out the Blemish Rescue Skin Clearing Loose Powder Foundation, the Blemish Rescue Anti-Redness Mattifying Primer, and the Seamless Buffing Brush with Antibacterial Charcoal I wanted to share my thoughts!

Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Review

I thought I'd do a review of some products that are fairly new to me! It's a new favorites review for summer 2017 beauty products!  I don't wear a full face of makeup very often, especially not often in the summer as I like to have a fresh face and let my skin breath. But I do enjoy playing around with makeup and trying different things out. I recently started using the Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink liquid lipsticks and I've been loving them!

I do like the confidence boost I feel when I wear lipstick as I am someone who likes to look put together however I don't wear regular lipstick too often as I find it usually just rubs off. I also don't like how it leaves marks all over cups and straws and everything. Maybelline's Super Stay Matte Ink is different though!

It is a liquid lipstick with a great formula. I really enjoy this product! I actually prefer liquid lipstick over regular lipstick because it lasts much longer and does not leave much residue. Once I apply the SuperStay Matte Ink to my lips and wait a couple minutes for it to dry it stays in place. It is easy to apply; I like the applicator and the color goes on pretty smoothly. The applicator is an "arrow  shape" and allows you to apply the product precisely. There is great coverage! I also find that it does not smear and it does dry matte but it does not dry out my lips! Some liquid lipsticks can be very drying but that is not the case with this product!

It can take a little bit of effort to take the product off but that it to be expected as it's supposed to last up to 16 hours on your lips. If it came off super easily then that would defeat the purpose of this product. It is recommended that an oil based makeup remover is used to take it off. I usually use a makeup wipe such as Neutrogena's cleansing towlettes or I use Garnier's micellar water on a cotton round and these methods both work. I sometimes also use cold cream such as Pond's to remove my makeup as it is very gentle.

The liquid lipstick definitely does a super job staying on my lips (see what I did there since it's called  SuperStay *wink* ok maybe only I think it's funny 🙈) but I have not worn it for 16 hours so I cannot say if it truly does last 16. I have worn it for 10 hours and it was still fine, it did not look 100% the same as it did when I first applied it but it did not look drastically different. It still looked good! And 10 hours is a long time for a product to last. Also if someone needs to/wants to wear a liquid lipstick (or any product really) for up to 16 hours that mean's they're expecting a lot from that product and they shouldn't mind having to touch it up once if they want it to look as good as it did when they first put it on lol.

If you're in need of a new liquid lipstick I recommend checking out this product. It comes in 10 different colors. And even if you're not a huge fan of lipstick I still think you may like this because as I said it stays on well, does not smear, and is comfortable on the lips!

I did receive this product complimentary from Influenster to try out and review however all opinions are my own, I truly love this product!

I've included the colors that I have as well as a couple of the other ones so that you can see a selection! #SuperStayMatteInk

I hope you found this review to be helpful, thanks for reading!

Have any of you guys tried these liquid lipsticks?

My Favorite Mascaras

Today I decided to share my current favorite mascaras with you! And it turns out they are both from the same brand. That didn't happen on purpose, I guess I just really like Maybelline mascaras.

One of the first mascaras I ever owned was a Maybelline Great Lash and I still love it! I have it in Very Black. I find that this mascara really helps to lengthen my lashes and also does a good job separating them. I do not usually like to go for a clumpy look.
The wand of this mascara is pretty small and straight. Since it is so small you can get pretty close to your eye and bash of your lashes without having to worry.  I also like my lashes to look "natural". As I have dark brown hair my eyelashes are already dark so if I apply mascara it may not always look like I am wearing it. It may seem like my lashes are already that long. I do always curl my lashes before putting mascara on. My eyelashes are pretty long but sometimes just stick straight out rather than up. Using an eyelash curler solves this "problem" though. I don't wear mascara everyday but if I were to do my "everyday look" than this is the mascara I would be using.
I really recommend Great Lash if you are looking for a new mascara to try or if you are just starting out with makeup!

My other favorite is Maybelline's Volum' Express The Falsies Mascara. Now you may be thinking "Emily, the word falsies, as in false eyelashes is in this mascara's name, and didn't you just say you liked your lashes "natural", didn't you just contradict yourself?" and to that I would reply "Yes and no"! Yes, it has the word Falsies in it and this mascara was designed to give you the effect that false lashes does, as in a lot of volume and length. It does a great job of doing so without being overkill. Yes, I like my lashes looking more natural than fake but, (here comes the "no" part)  but no I didn't contradict myself because my lashes can still look "natural" when I wear this.
When I apply this mascara  (or any for that matter) I do not glob it on and make it really obvious that I am wearing it. I want to point out though that there is absolutely nothing wrong with doing that though and I don't purposely try to make it seem like my lashes are just that gorgeous without mascara,  I just simply do not like that clumpy and thick, thick lashes look on myself.
I love how volumizing this mascara is and that it holds a curl really well. It helps make my lashes curl up nicely. I think that the size and shape of the wand are key  factors in how it makes the lashes so voluminous. The wand is curved and also has bristles at the tip. This makes it easy to apply the mascara to each lash and get pretty close to the base of most of the lashes. And I like using the tip to apply the mascara to my outer lashes especially.
It is a mascara you can definitely build it up to make it really look like you are wearing false lashes or to intensify your look. I recommend this mascara as well, especially if you are going for a bolder look and really want volume!

Thanks for reading!

October Favorites

October is over! To me it seems like the month just flew by. Now every one is gearing up for the holidays!

There were a few things that I couldn't get enough of this October and I thought I'd share them with you guys.

October Favorites 2015

First up is the Maybelline Super Stay Better Skin Concealer & Corrector. This concealer gives pretty good coverage and is definitely buildable. It has a doe foot applicator and I apply it with my clean fingers. It does not break me out. It is supposed to last a long time and I find that it does. Another benefit is that it is supposed to help clear you skin after you have used it for a while. I haven't used it long enough yet but I think that it has potential! Even if it doesn't end up doing that it is still a great concealer and I will continue to buy it. There is also a foundation from the same line.

The next product that I have been loving is the Wet n Wild eyeshadow palette in Comfort Zone. These are very neutral and earthy colors, great for doing natural eye looks. You can use it to do more dramatic looks as well though. The pigmentation is pretty good and the shadows do not crease even without wearing primer. I was very impressed by the quality.

Another thing I got a lot of use out of was my eyelash curler. Although I use it all the time and it wasn't an item I just recently "fell in love with" I did recently just start only curling my lashes and not always wearing mascara. Curling lashes makes such a difference and for me the curl lasts pretty long with/without mascara. Sometimes it's nice to not put it on since it can be time consuming and then a bit annoying to remove at night. I  do love mascara though! And I am a college student so I don't get too much sleep and curling my lashes makes me look so much more awake even without mascara and sometimes my eyes water a lot in the mornings and I don't want to have to worry about my mascara running.

I also really like metallic nail polish during the fall, especially golds, rose gold tones, greens, and other jewel tones such as purple.

I have been drinking a lot of tea lately. It really helped me get over a cold and there are a lot of benefits of drinking tea. There are also so many varieties so I think there is at least one flavor out there for everyone. Tea is a great beverage for the fall and winter and just symbolizes those seasons to me. My personal favorite teas are black tea, raspberry tea, and Christmas tea and as for brands I really enjoy Lipton, Twinning's of London, and Bigelow.

The last thing I thought I'd mention is a snack food. It is Popcorners! Theses are so delicious and my favorite is the kettle corn flavor, other flavors include white cheddar, butter, caramel, and sea salt. If you don't know what Popcorners are, they are basically popcorn in the form of triangle chips. There are a bit of a healthier alternative to chips and are amazing!

My Fashion Must Haves for Fall

Thinking ahead to fall kind of signals that summer is coming to an end (and believe me that is sad) but like I said in my last post, we don't have to deny that there are some great things about fall. Including the fashion!

Here are what I am looking forward to being able to wear again and my personal favorite fall trends:
Fall

  • Riding Boots
  • L.L. Bean Boots
  • Flannel Shirts
  • Dark Nail Polish
  • Dark Lip Colors
  • Leather Jackets
  • Jean Jackets
  • Sweaters
  • Scarves
  • Combat Boots
Nordstrom has a great selection of boots, Macy's does as well. As for flannels, leather and jean jackets,  Forever 21 and Pacsun are usually good places to find them. OPI has some amazing colors such as "We'll Always Have Paris" a deep red wine color and "Incognito in Sausalito" which is a very, very dark blue. Butter London also has great options like "Pitter Patter", an almost midnight-purple color. I don't even know if midnight-purple is a proper way of describing a color, but we do say midnight-blue, so think of it in those terms, if that makes sense!

Five Simple Things You Can Do To Be Healthier

Hello! Today I thought I would share some tips with you about being healthier. I am not including obvious ones like exercise, these are more like small changes you can make in your life to be healthier overall. I firmly believe that healthier = happier!

TIP #1.

Lilly Pulitzer
Tumbler
Drink water! Water is one of the best things you can consume. As humans, our bodies are made up of a large amount of water and therefore we need a lot of it. Most people, including myself though do not always drink enough. There are so many benefits of drinking more water including helping with weight loss and clearing skin.
One way you can encourage yourself to drink more water is to get a cute water bottle or tumbler. That way you can carry it around with you and when you see it you'll be reminded to take a drink. I always have a water bottle with me, I even take it wherever I am  in my house. I have mine next to me even now as I am typing this post! If I don't have it with me I definitely wouldn't be drinking as much. One of my problems is that I never realize I am thirsty until I start drinking something. When my water bottle is right there though it's easy to remember to have some. (You could also set a reminder on your phone telling you to drink water every so often if you really wanted to.)

TIP #2.

Camelbak Water Bottle
Playing off of tip #1, try to drink less soda. Replace it with water. But maybe you're saying "Emily, plain water, ugh". If regular water isn't you thing that's ok. Nothing can trump regular water but there are many options better than soda. For instance, flavored water or sparkling water. Lemonade is another. Or you could have fruit juice instead. Keep in mind though that you want something that doesn't have too much sugar because we still want it to be better for you than soda is.

TIP #3.

Take the stairs. Most places, such as office buildings, malls, train stations, etc. have stair cases right next to escalators (and if not next to usually they are very close by). Taking the stairs instead of using an escalator or the elevator is such an easy way to get more exercise and it's not hard to do since there are plenty of opportunities. Even if it's only one or two flights of stairs the calories you burn from them will add up. It will also help you get in better shape in general and will definitely help you be healthier. I always take the stairs whenever I have the chance.

TIP #4.

Try to have at least one serving of a fruit or vegetable with every "meal". I always like to have some fruit with my breakfast and either  a fruit or vegetable with my lunch. Sometimes I have an afternoon snack and I do like to incorporate a fruit. At dinner I always have some sort of vegetable and a side salad so that makes up a variety of veggies at that meal.  And finally I usually like having some fruit a little while after dinner. Apples are my favorite for this  and I love slicing them and putting a bit of peanut butter on, it makes them seem more decadent and like a dessert.
I am not saying that I always follow this "plan" but I try to as often as possible. I am also not saying that I never eat junk food, I do and I have a huge sweet tooth, and that's ok. Everything  is fine in moderation and if you watch your portion size.
I love eating blueberries, especially in the summertime right after I take them out of the fridge, they're so refreshing!

TIP #5.

If you are trying to eat less junk food, less of a certain thing, or trying to change you diet....... don't buy what you want to avoid! It is much easier to not be tempted and to not eat something if it is not easily accessible. What I mean by this is that if it is not in your house I don't know how many people would actually go to the store to get one thing they are craving. If you are in a similar situation as me though you will know that can be hard when your parents or other people you live with buy what you are trying to avoid. I just have to work on my will power and pretend that those foods do not exist and are not right there in the pantry tempting and torturing me with their deliciousness!

I hope you found these tips helpful on your journey to a healthier you, as they have been helping me. Thanks for reading, have a great day/afternoon/night!
-Emily
